Reduced Brownouts in General Santos City

Are they really going to cut down brownout time in GenSan?

General Santos City brownout

General Santos City, Philippines - Socoteco 2 services General Santos City, the entire Sarangani Province and the municipalities of Tupi and Polomolok in South Cotabato.  These areas hopefully will get a reprieve this week from the daily extended brownouts.

Starting May 3, General Santos City and the other areas serviced by Socoteco 2 will probably experience their seven hour daily brownouts cut down in half.  The city’s mayor revealed over the weekend that the local government has assisted in the signing of new power sales contracts that would grant Socoteco 2 to gain an additional 15 megawatts  of power supply for the area starting May 3.

“Starting May 3, all these contracts will take effect and we expect them to bring down our rotating brownouts by half or possibly even more,” the mayor said.

My fingers are crossed.  If this really would happen, YAY!  This would be a nice respite from the lengthy brownouts.  What do you think?
